Thinking Back, Looking Ahead

What I'm Wearing:
'Aladdin Sane' T-shirt: The Vintage Store in Exeter
Black Pleated Cropped Trousers: Topman
Sunglasses: ASOS
Watch: Rotary Watches
Shoes: Vans
(And, if you look closely, a rather dashing bright green 'dinosaur bite' plaster adorned by my right index finger)

The last time I spoke to you guys, I was at somewhat of a loose end. I felt like I was aimlessly meandering through summer, squandering my spare time between shifts at work and neglecting my long suffering blog in favour of naps and Pokémon. WELL, two weeks have passed, and despite a distinct lack of posts, many things have happened and many things are changing. And I'm bloody excited.

I suppose I should start this 'life update', if you will, with the biggest change of all: I quit my job. Sounds a bit dramatic, doesn't it? Well, as much as I love some messy drama from time to time, I must admit that it was as amicable as amicable can be. A conscious uncoupling of part-time employment, if we're to be pretentious about it. I first started working there as a doe-eyed 16 year old and I really do have a lot of my personal growth to thank for it. As hellish as it was on occasion, I will definitely miss the free coffee, the (nice) regular customers and most of all, the amazing people I worked with, all of whom made those nine and a half hour long closing shifts that bit more bearable.

Update number two: I turned 20? It still seems rather odd to say, but it has to be the truth. I am no longer a teenager. I am an adult. I am with adult-ness. I celebrated the day itself with my family and then with a few friends from university in the evening. We found ourselves in a board game café in east London, drinking overpriced cocktails and playing KerPlunk. What a way to bridge the gap between adolescence and the real world!

Update number three: I recently returned from an incredible trip to Ibiza with BethCat and Polly. My time there was relatively short and it flew by in a whirlwind of sunlight, hedonism and euphoria. I'm so lucky to have such a wonderful group of friends and I'm even luckier to be able to make so many unforgettable memories with them.

And my final update: I've officially declared August my 'gap month' where blogging takes precedence over pretty much everything else. Funnily enough, since tendering my resignation, my calendar has suddenly become a lot more... accommodating, let's say. I'm a notoriously unorganised person but I'm doing everything in my power to make sure that I get the most out of August and produce a steady stream of content that I'm proud to have created and even prouder to share on here. With every post, I'm learning more about what I like to make as well as what my audience wants to read. I may be a bit of a 'Jack of all trades, master of none', but I enjoy keeping my options open and I don't mind being an all rounder for the time being.

To say that I've quit my job to write for the rest of summer is a lot of strain to put on my blog's very little shoulders, but I'm excited to see how it goes. I say it a lot but I really love doing this, and here's hoping that the next month (and the future of this blog, whilst we're at it) works out even better than how I've planned it in my head.

  5. I love the one thing in these pictures that you use the simple dress and make it beautiful. Everyone knows about australianwritings writing service that the simple dress is more attractive than the fashionable dress. Well, it is very aspect and maybe yours different from me.
